Neglect vs. Belief

This has happened a few times here with Jehovah's Witnesses (who don't allow blood transfusions among other things). Some cases went to court and the docs intervened to give the children life saving treatment and others not.

Other than that, we tend not to have those 'religious' nuts here thankfully.

In an emergency room setting, if a child needs a LIFE saving treatment, we don't need the parents consent to treat them.. Only if it is life saving though..

Even the J Witnnes ppl who don't believe in getting blood products children will get blood. If they are an adult and of sound mind, they decided, if it is a child and it is life saving, the doctor gets to decide or they will get court orders.

I don't believe that a child should be so strongly subjected to their parents beliefs if it interferes with there life

How about something novel and intelligent? How about you expose your children to many beliefs and when they are an adult they make their own decision as to what they want to follow, if anything?!??!! I know, I know...RADICAL IDEA!!!!

My mom and grandma were slightly religious, my dad was a devout atheist. I found both of those paths to be silly. I'm glad they left me alone and let me experience life on my own and not suckle on their already used teet of mental/emotional opiate. Teach your child to be a good moral/ethical person, who treats others like they would want to be treated. Show them respect for all living things, and how to be compassionate. You do not need religion to do that. If after the kid becomes an adult and has been exposed to many different cultures and beliefs, if they want to follow a particular religious path, more power to them. At least then they have researched it on their own, and not one particular religious viewpoint as been shoved down their throat as the all en composing law.

My lady is a non practicing Catholic, like the rest of her family (they only go to church on the big religious holidays). I'm not exposing my child to that until they are able to comprehend what everything means. And I'm not ONLY exposing them to one perspective. I have always found the practice of indoctrinating your child into what you were indoctrinated into at a young age to be crap. But that's just my OPINION.
