neti pot

I have used a neti pot and a bulb syringe .... when asking for a new bulb syringe summer 2006 at the pharmacy where my CF center is they explained to me the problem with bulb syringes - that cracks can develop on the inside and become a happy home for bacteria, even with careful washing and sterilizing.
they introduced me to the sinus rinse from Neil Med: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.neilmed.com/

I have never looked back - it is my favorite treatment! I have discarded the bulb syringe and sent the neti pot to the thrift store.

Hi Jenn, When I feel really gunky, I mix the three of the packets (comes with my squeeze bottle) instead of one or two along with distilled water (I think it is something like 6 or 8 oz when finally mixed). My ENT actually recommended doing that when my sinuses were really clogged. It is essentially a hypertonic saline solution (not the same as nebbed HTS...the idea is about the same though) and works well at breaking stuff down. I do this until my sinuses are clear enough. I don't do this everytime though, for the most part I use a isotonic solution on my sinuses. One thing that is sometimes bothersome is if my sinuses are very inflammed and I try to use hypertonic solution...it stings at times. Right now my sinuses are pretty clogged so I am using a hypertonic solution with good results. It is something worth asking your doc about if it is something you want to try. Hugs, Jenn
