New CF Parent

Hi,

I joined because I am a foster mom who just received a new placement, a 16 month old baby boy with CF. I know some about CF but not alot and am reading everything I can on it until I can get in to see his doctor.

Can someone give me some specifics about diet and things to avoid? As far as I know he has no food allergies, although I know to avoid certain foods. However, there seems to be some conflict in foods that are needed (for high calorie count and sodium replacement)versus foods to avoid (dairy, salt, sugar etc)

Can someone help me with some suggestions to get me through the next few days.

i give to my dughter all the natural fatty things that i can get: nuts (5 nuts 150 calories), coco (is really good because it has a lot of calories and you can mixed in the food), grapes, a little spoon of omega 3 oil in every meal (it helps the pancreas to stay healthy as possible). And of course if i can avocado (here are not that expensive).
I put potato or rice or pasta to every meal, and what she loves is a yogurt in her snack (more than 100 calories). Legume twice a week, and cereal in her milk. When she was under weight i didn´t give her water, just juice , the idea was never lost the chance to give her some calories, and at that moment i gave her 2 meals and 3 snack. Now is 2 meals and 2 snacks.

Thank you so much for the information. Could you send me an example of a weeks worth of menus? I am struggling with what foods to feed him. Are there any that I should avoid??
