Shammy??? *chuckle*

And I know that me and you (or me and someone) have had the debate over positivity and all that, which I still stick to, that positivity DOES and CAN help, but this 'fighting, inspiration, defying medics, strength (when unconcious or REALLY ill)' does my head in. *bashes head off wall* <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

You already know I agree with you, Em. I, too, want to die at home and not in some hospital setting.

Let me share something; when my grandmother died, our priest said something that stuck with me. Even though I am not a Christian and I don't believe in God, I agreed with him completely. He said, "Death is a natural part of life. People in the world today have forgotten how to die." And the more I see on this forum and in everyday life, the more I agree with him. Death is part of nature, and there is no avoiding it in the end. Why the hell are people so thick in the head when it comes to that? *sigh*

Anyway, great post, Em. As usual.

Don't you think that this harks back to Frankie's situation and the bashing she got for living HER life the way SHE wanted to? We ARE all going to die. So a lot of us choose to spend hours on our treatments, thus hopefully doing well and living life to the full and leading a long life. But we're going to die anyway.

Frankie took her one chance at life and chose to experience it in a way which many frowned upon. <i>'Smoking???' oh golly gosh NO</i>. She has CF, she CAN'T smoke! Ignoring the fact that she was HUMAN, it was HER body and maybe she didn't WANT to spend hours doing treatments. Maybe she wanted a glimpse of a 'normal' life before she left.

We. Are. ALL. going. to. die.

It wasn't the smartest choice, but it was HER choice. And while I'm not surprised she died (given the CF + smoking), it doesn't mean she <i>deserved</i> to, or I wanted her to. Big difference.
