I didn't start taking enzymes into my mid-20's. I had to start because my protein levels were low due to my not absorbing correctly.
My mother always had me on a low fat diet and that's why I think I didn't need enzymes. I still eat low-fat to this day--I rather control things naturally and take less pills. I never had a problem with weight either. Even now, I am a healthy 140 lbs at 5'4" tall.
I take Ultrase MT20--2 with meals. Sometimes I will forget to put some in my purse and I still do okay when I eat without them.
I don't know how much pancreatic sufficiency correlates with lung function. I think it is more the case of good nutrition and having good BMI (body mass index) that is connected with respiratory health.
