Percussors

Hello CF community,

I've been out of the loop here for a while and I feel so disconnected from so many people in my life, overall, and I feel it helps me to an extent, but I really feel that I should get back in the loop, both here and in real life!

So, anyway, my question is, WHAT do you all use for CPT? My son is still quite small- he just turned 1, and we initially got infant size cpr masks to use for CPT, but then someone told me there are special percussors made specifically for CPT.

Sadly, my clinic doesn't stock them, and if they had record of getting them and giving me one, they think my sons insurance may not approve the vest next year. Yeah, they told me they want to wait until hes TWO to get a vest <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

So, the percussors come in a case of FOURTY, and I was thinking about purchasing an entire case, but obviously, I won't NEED to use the entire case, so I would think about selling them at a small increase in price- could be a way for me to make a LITTLE spending cash for myself too, since I am still staying home with my son.

Do you think people would be interested in purchasing these (would probably sell them for between 12-14/pair)? If you dont think its a good idea, what other ideas do you have, other than using the palm of your hand? Im always interested in making my life easier.

We used that little blue one you have in the photo for a long time with out wearing it out. I'm thinking that our clinic just gave us a couple, no charge. Do you go to a pediatric clinic? If you don't have one in your area, i'd be more than happy to send you ours, I think we have 2-3 of them. Also, I'm pretty sure that using your hand is not recommended until he's much bigger, so stick with the percussors.
All of this to say that I'm not so sure people would be interested in buying them from you since I assume most clinics are like ours.
And don't feel bad about the vest. We had to master 3 different airway clearance techniques before the RT wanted to talk about the vest. I truly believe it's for our own good, so we don't become dependent on the vest and not know what to do without it. However, (HUGE CELEBRATION) my son, who is 4.5 yrs old, is getting fitted for his first ever Vest at the end of June. We are so excited!

Well our son is 3 1/2 months old and we use one similar to the pink one in the picture. We have gotten 2 or 3 from our clinic for free as our 20 month old keeps losing them. Our Dr. has told us we can also use a cupped hand (he likes to do CPT that way), I prefer the percussor whcih is fine. Also last I knew when I spoke to the respitory therapist they were checking on an electric percussor for us, when our son was in the hospital they used one and I liked it. I agree that people probably would not pay for a percussor because it seems most clinics offer them.

We have the medium size tan ones. The PT gave them to us free at the clinic. We also have the infant size oxygen masks that they tape the hole closed on - we used those for a year or so and then switched to the cups - I actually think the oxygen masks are a little "cushier" than the actual cups.Maybe if you sold them on ebay you might get some takers, but since most clinics give them to you for free I wouldn't imagine it would be a big money maker for you. And I would never pay $12 - $14 for them, seems like they should cost less than $5.
