Hey Guys,

I am 11 weeks today with twins and have lost three pounds. I normally have no problems keeping weight on but this is the hardest thing in the world. I guess it doesn't help that I hate chocolate, ice cream, and anything remotely that would be considered fattening. I have always been such a healthy eater loving chicken, potatoes, steak, grapes, yogurt, ect but now I can't tend to gain weight with this pregnancy and it is scaring me.

My RE said 30-35 lbs with twins but I can't even seem to get past 118 pounds. Did you all have a hard time gaining weight? IF so what did you do?

at my 12 weeks appointment i had actually lost two pounds in four weeks. i'm 24 1/2 weeks right now and gaining very well. i'm like you, i don't eat fatty foods and never have, but i've always been able to keep weight on. i don't take enzymes or have any of those problems.
don't worry, i'm sure you'll start gaining. i have a feeling i'm going to blow up the last two months <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Hey Kelly,

First, congratulations on the pregnancy (I've followed your posts)!

This early in the pregnancy, no weight gain and even weight loss are common, according to my OB. I lost 5 pounds early on (I think around 8-11 weeks) although I was only carrying one baby. The OB (high risk) said she wouldn't be concerned until I was around 20 weeks and not gaining. Of course by then I had put on all the lost weight and then some. Oh, and I am like you with the appetite. I don't like many fatty foods (including ice cream and chocolate). Unlike you though, I have always needed to work to keep my weight up. Just keep eating what you can and try not to worry too much. The weight will come later.

I delivered a 6lb 5oz baby girl with a total weight gain of only 15lbs. Most of my weight was put on during months 4-6. I'm sure you will put on more since you haven't had weight issues in the past. Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi! I too lost about 5 lbs initially due to decreased appetite and nausea. By 20 weeks I was about the same (had maybe gained a little back). I gained 18 lbs total and had a healthy full term baby. Remember your babies are VERY SMALL right now so don't worry about weight gain at this point. Eating fatty foods like chocolate and ice cream isn't the best idea anyway. You need to be eating healthy stuff like avocados, ground flax seed or flax oil (mixed in with things like oatmeal), fatty fish like salmon (wild caught only), etc. Make sure you are getting at least 110 grams of protein a day for a twin pregnancy. Good luck. Have you considered joining the CF Nutrition Yahoo group? I know for a fact that the women on there will have lots of healthy ideas for you to gain weight.
