I have polyps in my nose but my doctor is adamantly against surgery to have them removed. What I want to know is anyone that had them and had them removed was there a difference in how you breathed? I noticed my smell is practically gone, my taste is still there thank heavens! He said when it becomes an issue of not being able to breath he will consider referring me to have it done....but I am starting to think I want it done now. I can breath OK but if it would help me breath easier then I would definitely consider surgery!!!

Thanks!!

why is he against surgery? seems strange. even severe patients have sinus surgery. i have had surgery twice. no regrets at all. its better to get it done before it gets so bad that you cant breathe at all.

I've had polyps removed 5 - count 'em 5 - times in a 10 year period between the ages of 9-19
For me, once they were removed the first time, they grew back instantly like weeds. Finally, after the last surgery, they didn't come back.

Now, I have a few up there, they don't bother me, so I don't want to open up that can of worms again.

I would ask your doc why he is against surgery.

Good luck!

I had the same situation that Jodi had.

I would get a second opinion if all else fail. You will feel so much better once they are out.
