Question: What is the status on that drug that a while back was supposed to be out within 2 years or so, that corrects nonsense mutations for many diseases? I know I have atleast one nonsense mutation, so that is hopeful. I have no idea what the name of the drug is, I thought it was a pill. So the name and an update on the status of what is going on would be nice to hear.

</end quote></div>
I think that was called PT124
I have been looking forward to that one coming out myself

if a cure does come, it will be in the form of a therapy; something that is ongoing and must be repeated to remain effective.

what i'm curious about is, should there ever be a cure, whether insurance companies will cover it or not. even more curious, will they cover cf treatments anymore since they will be unnecessary in the wake of this new cure...that will likely be inaccessible to a significant portion of the effected community

Very good point (as usual <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">)! What if the "cure" doesnt handle all aspect of all CFers.....then what? Back to the CF care!

It's called PTC124 and there have been consistently positive results. This is the website of the company doing the studies for it. If you add yourself to their mailing list, you will get regular updates regarding trial results, etc.

I've got my fingers crossed about this one!
