It is really important to get your bf screened, but keep in mind there is still a chance of the baby have CF is the screening is negative. My carrier test came back negative and my husband's doctor told me that they screen for the most common mutations, but there are thousands to look for. Just know that there is a chance. To which I of course told the doctor that there are a lot of chances in becoming pregnant and then raising a child.</end quote></div>

Definitely agree with that .. have your bf tested .. but like the post i quoted, they will only do the most common mutations unless you go to a genetic counselor. We had the most common mutations tested at Kenny's regular doctor and that came back negative .. then at the hospital I was having my baby at, we met with the genetic counselor and they did the "full panel" which tested for 1,500 mutations and that came back negative as well. My daughter does NOT have CF, but she is a carrier because she got the CF gene from me.

Hi,
I'm 32 years old and pregnant for the first time (14 weeks along). I am one of the CFers that took forever to get pregnant, but don't give up hope. Three years ago I adopted my son Chris, because I felt I would never get pregnant (I had been with my husband for 10 years at that time.) In June, we decided we'd try in vitro fertilization. We went to see the doctor, but found out I was already pregnant. What a miracle!

Anyway, I highly recommend getting your boyfriend carrier test. I had my husband tested and it was about $250 and a simple blood draw, but worth the peace of mind.

LOL! Jeana, I know you don't know me, but my husband and I tried to conceive for 3 years with NO LUCK WHATSOEVER. We are now in the Fost/Adopt Program and hoping for either a boy or girl between the ages of 6-months-old - 4-years-old. We are also open to 2 children if they are siblings. Many Moms said it's easier with two because they can amuse each other when they get old enough, making getting treatments done much easier.

Your story made me smile! I have heard that happens to quite a few other couples. When you 'give up', it happens. For me, I am back on the pill and am no longer trying. However, my FEV1 hasn't been as stable either so I think I made the right decision. My FEV1 has dropped from 69% to 63%. It was at 69% for the past 4 years straight...

Anyway, you brought a smile to my face, and I wish you the best!!!<img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

Just wanted to add..., Jeana.

My husband and I went through all the infertility tests, and I even had a laprascopy this past May. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT!!! The only possible reason was due to my cervical mucus which is really messed up.

In the end, both infertility clinics and my GYN doctor felt that IUI would have done the trick. HOWEVER, my hubby wouldn't hear of it. He doesn't really believe in 'assistance' of any kind. Heck, his own Mom waited 9 years to have his brother!!! Our infertility was becoming an issue within our marriage so I stopped pressing it. Things have returned to normal, and we are days from being fost/adopt parents.

My cycles were every 30 days like clockwork, but nothing every happened...
