These lists are meant to enhance the private topic category. My vision is if someone is looking for support on a controversial issue, they can use the lists to create a private topic and get the support they are seeking without the thread being hijacked by a debates, arguments, and personal attacks.

Once again, this is meant to enhance, not censor. The adult board will still remain the same as it has always been.

To be added to a list or to suggest a new list, there are three options.
1: use this thread.
2: contact me with a private message
3: use the forms provided at the bottom of the lists page: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.c-mockingbird.com/cflists.html">http://www.c-mockingbird.com/cflists.html</a>

The lists page has instructions on how to create a private topic, as well as descriptions for all the lists, which will also be provided here.

I think if this is able to help even a few people it will be worth it, but in order for this to work I need a significant number of people to participate by signing up.

Available lists:

<b>Support lists:</b>
These are lists of people who may not necessarily agree with a particular viewpoint, but promise to leave their personalities, attitudes, and opinions at the door. In other words, if they do not have anything supportive to say, they will not say anything at all.

<u>Pro-life</u>: A support list for CF-related pregnancy in which abortion will not be discussed

<u>Pro-choice</u>: A support list for people who have had an abortion or are considering having one

<u>Papa don't preach</u>: A support list for people who may have made some mistakes in the past but are trying to turn their life around

<b>General discussion lists</b>
These are lists of people who belong to a certain demographic. There might be some minor differences in opinion, but for the most part the arguments which might ruin a topic on the main board will be excluded.

<u>Rose colored glasses</u>: A list of people who believe in focusing on the positive

<u>CF sucks</u>: A list of people who hate CF, believe it has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, and wish they had never been born with it

I hate to debate a topic like this, because I like what you're trying to do. But I think this part is worded poorly / leaves things out. People who focus on the positive focus on the positive. Okay. But why is there a "CF sucks and I hate it" list without a "realistic look" list? There are some people that don't fall into either of the ones you mentioned. Myself among them. I know everyone thinks I'm a big negative nancy, and quite frankly, it pisses me off. In short, if you're going to include those two, I'd like to see an additional middle ground one. People seem to think it's one (care bears and sunshine and rainbow farts) or the other (boohoo, my life sucks and I'm going to kill myself) and it's just not. Anyways, that's my little bit of input. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Good Work!

This sounds like the suggestion I made as to having a "group list" made up for someone to instantly send for reliable replies when generating an "invite" list.

I guess it means you must've understood what I was trying to say about making the list for "who best to ask for advice", and took it one step further!

Hope this helps the site out!

BTW, I already hopped on your link and signed up!

Edited to add after everyone else posted---and I saw my cancel button didn't cancel the first post...

Emily has a point, but for kybert, I think the idea is worth a try, unless you have better suggestions.

I think the "Private Topic" was already generated from someone posting a "touchy subject", and the post turned sour. Since no one seems to ever use the "Private Topic" function, which is already been around, this is worth investigating.

This is actually also a good point. No matter where you go, you will come across things you don't like / agree with. You can't sensor life, why try to sensor pieces of it? Ah well. Just looking from both sides.
