Private Topic Lists

People barely use topics other than "adults, families and newly diagnosed." I would be shocked if these private topics are used....

I'm not fond of the idea either.

I see this as taking away from the current forum. If that holds true, we stand to lose more than we'll gain.

Well the easiest way to show we dislike the idea is to not sign up for it. If there aren't people in the lists - it will fail. This idea requires the support of the people who post a lot to the forum.

Soon there won't be much of a point in even coming to this forum. Not if we're all going to be segregated into "pro" and "con" groups. Why does this seem like kindergarten all over again...? *sigh*

Mockingbird,

I really like you, and in the past we've agreed and disagreed a lot!!! But I have to respectfully say that I really don't like this idea.

I specifically don't like that it takes away from what Jeanne and everyone else "behind the scenes" has worked so hard to create. If your intention is to create your own website, more power to you. But I think it's wrong for you to advertise this on THEIR site and/or make changes to their site that weren't authorized by them.

If this has been run by Jeanne and she's ok with it, then I recant. But I don't know if it was so I wanted to share how I feel about the issue.

I think it's going to cause more alienation than anything. I know a lot of people don't agree with some things I've done. And they don't hesitate to tell me. As much as it might sting to hear the TRUTH. But people need to realize that if they ask questions, they WILL get answers. And if it's a very open ended question, they will get an array of different answers. If they are more specific and concice about the info. they are requesting answers on, it helps narrow down the responses.

I like your effort, but I think it's a bad idea and I really hope you ran it by the owners first.

Mockingbird,

After reading what you're trying to do, I was immediately reminded of AA and such support groups. Don't these groups have certain "rules" and "regulations" how people are expected to treat and act toward other members of the group? (Meant to offer only support and not debate actions of others?) I'm just curious... I don't know much about AA, but think they have a sort of "code of conduct" that they follow in their support meetings (maybe meant to protect the integrity of others) and don't really see how this idea is any different. JMO. Not sure I'll do it though, just thought I'd mention that I think there are groups out there that follow a code of ethics and its not really censorship IMO.

I agree. As with any new ideas on the forum, if you don't like it, you can use your voice by NOT acting. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
