Well the easiest way to show we dislike the idea is to not sign up for it. If there aren't people in the lists - it will fail. This idea requires the support of the people who post a lot to the forum.</end quote>

I agree. As with any new ideas on the forum, if you don't like it, you can use your voice by NOT acting.

OOPS!!
Guess I wasn't quite sure what Mockingbird was up to.

My thought in what he was doing was to make a list of those who could be added to the list on the private topics ON THIS SITE, for those who wanted to ask something privately, but didn't know who to ask.

Does everyone, or has anyone used Microsoft Outlook Express?
You may know that within your Address book, you can group certain names. Such like "All Family" group would have your family, "All Friends" would have all your friends, and "Everyone" would be all those in the address book. With that, instead of individually selecting their address, just 'clicking' the group name would automatically put those people in your "to send" box.
I thought that's what Mockingbird was up to, since that is one function that the "Private Topics" doesn't have, but I didn't think he would try and develop his own forum (and take away from what is here).
Though I also commend his efforts for trying to have a more peaceful environment here, I guess as long as there is free will, there will be locked topics!

Fred (and Mockingbird):

Maybe I'M the one reading this wrong. Maybe Mockingbird could clarify what this is and what the point of it is. I thought it was basically a new forum where debates and such wouldn't be allowed and instead would be a "question and answer" or "experiences without any comment from others" thing. Kind of like, instead of debating having CF and why it sucks and pointing out how someone feels is "wrong" or skewed, it would be "this is me... this is why I think CF sucks. end of story" hmmmm... A more accepting, zen-like atmosphere where everyone gets "the floor" and says stuff without being judged, questioned, etc. (with ethical rules that keep the atmosphere accepting and peaceful) Perhaps I am wrong in my interpretation of what Mockingbird is trying to do. Wouldn't be the first time! LOL

(I also want to add that I don't find anything WRONG with these boards and threads on cysticfibrosis.com, but if I'm correct in my interpretation, Mockingbird would just have a different sort of support group with rules/regulations similar to real-world group therapy sessions.)

It looks like I'm in the minority or else no one else wants to speak up, but I'm excited about this new feature. Obviously if you dont' like it...don't use it.

I think it will be good for people that are going through a very rough time to be surrounded by people that support them, not kick them while they're down.

I guess I think about my life personally..when I'm going through a rough time, I try to surround myself with people that will support me & offer help/suggestions in a constructive way and I try to avoid the self righteous or negative folks like the plague.

My guess is that there are others here that when they are having a hard time, they really don't want the Positive Patti's chiming in.

Hopefully this will offer something for everyone.
gotta go...time for Grey's Anatomy

Basically what it comes down to is ~~those that are interested will and those that arent wont. Dont see what the disagreements solve. IF there isnt enough people interested to make it work for various reasons then it wont. IF there are terrific!

I totally agree!

I do ask, however, that Mockingbird maybe clarify what exactly the point of it is, as I'm really confused! LOL

All posts will remain on this forum here. I am not creating a new forum (as if I'd even know how ) I am creating lists to be used in the private topics section of the Cysticfibrosis.com forum. The lists, however, are hosted on my site because I did not want to create extra work for the moderators of the board. Like I said earlier, however, if they would like to do the work of incorporating the lists into cysticfibrosis.com, they are perfectly welcome. If there is any more clarification needed as to what I am doing or what my intentions are, please feel free to ask.

Thanks to all of you who have signed up so far. I am also adding two new General Discussion list categories as requested:

Alternative Medicine Works!: A list for people who apply alternative medicines in the form of herbs, energy medicine, acupuncture and spiritual healing in their day-to-day treatment

Realistically Speaking: A list for people who want to be real about CF without hearing others whine about negativity

I am sorry, but I am afraid I have to reject the "Your idea freaking sucks" suggestion, since it seems the users who would fit this demographic have already resolved not to sign up for any lists.

Fred: Thank you very much for your support. You're kind of putting yourself on the line to do that, and I appreciate it. I would like for there to be a way where we can just click on a group like you are talking about, but that is something that would have to be done by Ennio or someone like that, since I have neither the access nor the technical knowledge required.

Thank you to everyone else who is supporting me as well. I so not expect the lists to be used very frequently, but I think they will prove a useful resource when they are needed.
