I'm only commenting on the animal issue:
I am an adult with CF. (I'm 41- diagnosed at birth - DF508). I've always had allergy issues and have had pets in the home from a young age. I think it's at your own disgression and what you think your daughter can tolerate. However, I didn't have any lung issues as a child (not until the age of 30 something)...so I only had to deal with the allergies themselves (had allergy shots and had a few polyps removed).
As an adult, the allergies are affecting me more, especially now that I have more lung involvement. However, I love my animals (these are OUR kids), and I would never get rid of them. To me, the joy of the pet outweighs the problems. All of our animals are indoor. It's true that I'd probably be better off without them, but I can't see that ever happening.
We did get rid of some of our carpet and replaced it with CVT (composite vinyl tile - think hospital floors). That helped A LOT. It makes it much easier to clean and get rid of the dander - one Swifter everyday and done. I think this is a good move for all CFer's, known allergies or not. (as a kid my room didn't have carpet either).
Best Wishes to you and your family - you found a good place for support and for learning.
