Pseudomonas?

I have cultured Pseudomonas for 2 decades Due to lack of insurance, I may have had it long before that but had no knowledge of it. I know it is hard for a mom to do, but please let your child be a kid. You won't be able to protect them from everything and they will sense your fear and insecurity about their health. Hope and joy are powerful tools and fear is suffocating! Do some common sense things without being overprotective. A dose of joy and laughter goes a long way in building a tiny immune system

I'm only commenting on the animal issue:
I am an adult with CF. (I'm 41- diagnosed at birth - DF508). I've always had allergy issues and have had pets in the home from a young age. I think it's at your own disgression and what you think your daughter can tolerate. However, I didn't have any lung issues as a child (not until the age of 30 something)...so I only had to deal with the allergies themselves (had allergy shots and had a few polyps removed).

As an adult, the allergies are affecting me more, especially now that I have more lung involvement. However, I love my animals (these are OUR kids), and I would never get rid of them. To me, the joy of the pet outweighs the problems. All of our animals are indoor. It's true that I'd probably be better off without them, but I can't see that ever happening.

We did get rid of some of our carpet and replaced it with CVT (composite vinyl tile - think hospital floors). That helped A LOT. It makes it much easier to clean and get rid of the dander - one Swifter everyday and done. I think this is a good move for all CFer's, known allergies or not. (as a kid my room didn't have carpet either).

Best Wishes to you and your family - you found a good place for support and for learning.

Thanks for the up-lifting advice. It made me smile The fear of what is to come is what brings me down and I needed someone to remind me to have some faith. Thanks again

Shortly after we found out that Kale had CF we bought a new house with only hardwood floor-and I'm talking only hardwood floor I know it seems a little drastic to move into a whole new house because my daughter was diagnosed with CF, but it makes it so much easier to clean. It eases my mind a little and then I can spend my time enjoying my daughters and less time freaking out about all the germs and bacteria in my house. Love my Swifer!! However, I still have my days when I just don't think I could possibly do enough. I'm hoping this gets better with time. Your advice was great and thank you for having my family in your thoughts. I'm happy that I'm learning to talk about Cf now and that I DID find a great group of people to talk to.
