I have a grandmother who will never be able to see my little one again. She has bronchiectasis, and has also been diagnosed with chronic pseudomonas. It's really hard on all of us, but I have to do what is best for Brady. She has never smoked, just has a history of bronchitis and other lung problems that have now led to the pseudomonas. Luckily she has finally come to accept that it has to be this way, but it was really hard for a long time because she and others just didn't understand. I wish you the best!

My grandmother had emphysemia, and at the time, I really didn't know that there could be possible risk to my girls. I hadn't found forums like this to learn from...it was several years ago.

But after she died, (which completely broke my heart-I grew up next door to her almost my entire life-she was the one who glued our family together) it started to dawn on me that I never knew what she cultured and that she could had possibly passed things between Kayla and Hannah and Dalton.

Too late to know now.

Most people actually have pseudemonas as some point but it doesn't colonize like it does in CFers. The lungs clear it out without doing harm. And, as a side note, my chemistry teacher's CAT just cultured pseudemonas. We are inquiring as to whether I can be around that cat now, LOL. At the moment, the cat is suspected to be the first case of CF in a feline. I will post that if/when it is confirmed. But how crazy...
