Hi Robin and everyone else,
Did your doctor say to change Bek's pulmozyme last or the RT?
We have always been told to do it the way Debra does it. Mak's Xopenex opens her airways, pulmozyme is used to loosen the mucous so it's easier to cough up. I will usually wait about 15 mins after each one to make sure it works good. I'll make sure she has coughed up as much as possible before I do the Tobi, so I hope it is getting deep into her lungs.
Edit~
After seeing some of the other ways people do their treatments, I thought I would edit this and make the way I do it a little clearer.
Mak starts with the neb xopenex, wait about 15mins, then the pulmozyme with the vest, then try to wait another 15, then hts, since we know this one really can make the juncky stuff come up,I do pulmozyme before so it will thin before the hts, then after the cat ball stringing crap comes out, we'll start on the nasal flushing (which the goof ball likes) that part which can take sometimes 35 to 40 mins. Then the dreaded Tobi, which seems to take FOREVER. Then breakfast, enzmy's, and a few more mins for the pancreatic pain to subside some, and last the 2puffs of Advair, to hold over till school is out. Of course there's so many more meds, the oral antibiotics, prevacid, the M,W,F, zythro, the tons of miralax, nasal spray, mucinex.
Last yr I would wake her up around 430am on school days and we would still be late, and she would be exhausted by the time to go to school. This year ,,,,,,,,,, hell noooo, she gets up at 645am or 700am and the school knows she will be in by 10am if all goes well.
This year I threw out the time clock before school.I figured her health was going to come first and most of all Peace of Mind without the non stop rush for the school.
Like Tonya said, Time is not our friend. It's crazy ,but, I find that she does much better in the mornings when she's not sooooo rushed, and even then it is non stop, but, not where I'm saying hurry , hurry, and she's so tired like last year, and her mornings are much happier than last years. Tonya is so right that we can discuss as friends and help each other.
Good Luck to all, Karla
