If you are working and make more than $1000 gross income you will not qualify. If you are making less and apply and ARE approved this will trigger what is called a continued review of your case. After all if you are disabled you cant work....

Also if you have your housing given to you and work you might as well not plan on getting anything. To get SSDI you have to make sure you have enough working credits. To find you for sure you can call the SSA phone number and just simply ask them they will tell you.. they can also give you an estimate of what you will get per month. Because you are 24 you are RIGHT AT the cut off for having to have more working credits. Any individual 24 and under needs 6 working credits in a 3 year period. For every 4xxx$ you make a year you get 4 credits, but you can only earn 4 credits per year. So you would have to have worked for at least 2 years are made more than $4xxx (I cant remember the exact amount right now).

What you need to do is call Beth Sufian (CF legal hotline). They will get a grant from the CF foundation to pay for the legal fees to cover the cost of them applying for SSDI for you if they feel that you will be approved for SSDI. If they don't think that you can get it they will not take your case. However seeing that you say your FEV1 is 33% and you are on nightly oxygen I would almost guarantee they will take your case. When you apply you only need records from 1 year to the day. The SSA will not look at anything more than 1 year old. So don't both trying to gather records from old hospitals if that is the case. If you have any questions you can Email me or PM me or hit me up on AIM.

I don't think anyone sees that I'm already on ssdi and have been for 2 1/2 yes :) ...I'm just looking at wanting to make some extra money but I was told you can make 1000$ gross a month. But I just wanted to know more on the Medicaid elegibility as I get my prescriptions coverd right now meaning no out of pocket expenses..but one of my other questions is ok it's a 1000$ a month..but there is 52 weeks in a year soo I also wanted to know how does that work because with it being 52 weeks a year that puts you over 12,000$ a year if say I made 240 a week ...see although it's under the 1000$ a mnth if you work that out to a year it'd be over 12,000$ soo hw does it work?..or is it strictly jus monthly an being over for the year don't matter?

Sorry my mistake, I guess I read incorrectly what you wrote. To answer your question I'll try my best here:

Insurance I'm not sure what state you live in but when I was working full time making around $24k I still was able to get Medicaid. It depends on your state. Some states have application processes to raise the limit from $25k to $36k/yr income if you have select illnesses (CF being one of them in PA at least)

If you are past the 29 month waiting period (sounds like you just passed it) for Medicare Disability insurance it should not effect you... you'd have to check with them I'm not well versed in Medicare.

But essentially Medicare is the SSA level and Medicaid is the State level, most states its around $24k so you shouldn't have a problem.

The reason you are coming out with 240 a week over a year being over $12,000 is because when you calculate monthly you have to multiply by 4.33 not 4. There are 4.33 weeks in a month. Which yes would but you over as far as the payments to you is concerned.

However keep in mind when you start out working a job while on SSDI you can make ANY amount of money without having your payments change for the first 9 months. After that they will knock your payments down if you are making more.. basically subtracting anything you make over $1000 from your SSDI payment.
