Random CF encounter

I work at a large call center for a catalog company. One day I was in the break room and I coughed a few times. This girl who I'd seen but never spoken to asked me if I was related to a girl named Bobbi Jo H___. I told her I wasn't but that I knew who she was. Bobbie Jo also has CF. So I thought it was really weird that she asked that. Bobbi and I have been in the hospital at the same time before and we have been told that we somewhat resemble one another at different times in our lives. (I'm 8 years older than she.) Anyway, the place where I work and the place where Bobbi actually knew this girl from was like an hour away. All I can figure is that the cough made her think of Bobbi Jo.

Then to make it even more ironic, the girl and I started talking and I told her how I knew Bobbi Jo. The girl told me that she knew another girl with CF. This girl's name was Jamie F. Well Jamie F. and I were closer in age and had been really close friends growing up in the hospital. As it turns out the girl who asked me the question was best friends with Jamie's sister.

It really is a small world. I've been told in the past that some of us with CF have facial characteristics that are similar. Sometimes it's the gauntness of our faces or bodies. Other times, it's the blue tinge to our lips. None of it is very flattering. But it does make us resemble each other at times.

A few days after reading this thread something funny happened to me.

I was at Whole Foods Market and I saw this lady limping down the isle wheeling her wagon. I just said, "are you ok" She said, "I just had surgery on my knee" I said, I hope you feel better. I had a transplant so I can relate. She said, "what kind of transplant?" I said, double lung transplant" She said, CF? I said, How did you know?" Can you tell?" She said no but my husband has cf so I thought that is why people have double lung transplants? She said, "my husband is a surgeon" Then I said, I know of him. I once wrote him an email. blah blah. then we exchanged emails and kept on chatting.

What a crazy story. A story I will not forget.

My primary physician's wife (who is also my endocrinologist) had a brother w/ CF (died about 30 years ago). Anyway, he (my pp) called me when we were at the hospital the day of Ethan's diagnosis to tell me this story. I love him to death...but at the time...I was a new mom and just found out about him having Cf...I was mortified!!!!!

wow I was in 5th grade and i had to take my pills in the nurses office, so one day I go to the office to take my pills and the nurse told me that I couldn't go in. So I asked her why and she said their was a boy in there taking his meds. Of course I was like ok so what, see most of the kids that went in had other diseases and had to take meds or shots. Well anyway she stoped me and told me he had CF too. That I couldn't be in the same room for safety reasons. So I sat in a chair to wait, the boy came out and he saw me and smiled. So thats the only time I saw another person with CF.

Sorry I was looking at the old topics and saw this.
