I'm enjoying these stories.

Aside from seeing other people with cf at my clinic throughout the years, I've never known anyone or talked to anyone w/ cf before coming to this site. One year ago I found this site and about 2 months into my visiting, Sakasuka (Amy) recognized my name, noticed I was from California and put the pieces together. She asked me out of the blue in one of the threads if I was the Kelly she had heard of when she was growing up, and whala - it was me. Amy and I went to the same Elementary School. I was in 8th and I think she was in 1st. I rememeber hearing that there was a new girl in school who also had CF, but we never met. Years before this coincidence, two of Amy's aunts babysat my sister and I for many years. Amy says when her parents found out she had CF, that they were already familiar with it from the babysitting days with me.

So needless to say, when she put the pieces together and we ran into eachother on this site, I was so excited to finally "talk" with her! Small small world.

I love that story. So, that's the most interesting CF encounter I've had by far.

Hello! I am very new to the site....just thought that I would let everyone know that within a 10 mile radius of us we "personally" know 11 cf families. (none related) One lives in the same neighborhood as us and there are currently 5 that I am aware of in our school district!! I feel with these #'s here how are there only 30,000 ppl. in the U.S.?? Just thought I would share this:)

I now remember my fifth grade school teacher's daughter had CF. Not sure if she was alive or not but the teacher told my family she knew about CF. The teacher's name was Mrs. Failer lol She was nice to me and did not feel sorry for me. She treated me like everyone else but there were times I wondered. When my friends would get in trouble and I was involved, she never said anything to me.

The only encounter I can remember that was kinda random would be 1 day when I went to the lake to play pond hockey and saw some1 I knew had CF playing. If I didnt previously know him and know that he had CF beforehand I would of never known.

I just remembered a sort of random Cf encounter I had awhile back!

When I was in Australia to visit my sister a bunch of us decided it would be fun to go down to Byron Beach for the weekend. I ended up driving in a completely different car than my sister, so I got put with a few random Australian guys who turned out to be very nice, very interesting people. I was sitting in the front (I get carsick really easily) and the guy driving said, after about ten minutes "you have Cystic Fibrosis, don't you." I asked him how he figured and he said "Your hands look just like my brothers and your cough is exactly the same". We had a chat about how his brother was doing during the whole trip and it was neat.

I had a random CF encounter the other day... I was at a training class for work at a different hospital, and I saw a cute little girl with electrodes on both of her arms wrapped up in saran wrap... She was so cute and she was running around everywhere.....

Her mom was behind me at the coffee counter so I started a conversation with her... I told her about my CF and about this website and I wished her good luck... I don't actually know how the test results turned out...I hope they turned out really well though..
