I agree with Christina.... even as an adult I don't like them. When I was in the hospital last fall the dietician ordered them for me each and every meal (even breakfast). Yuck!

Have you tried carnation breakfast drink... with whole milk?? I am not sure how many calories they have but they are so, so good. As a teenager I would have at least one a day (for breakfast and sometimes snacks).

I buy carnation instant breakfast powder in vanilla and chocolate at the wholesale club where it's cheaper. To me it doesn't taste vitaminy, it tastes kinda like melted ice cream. I mix up a quart of it with whole milk and cream and keep it in the fridge for DS.

He doesn't like boost, pediasure, etc.

When Emily was better about drinking IB I'd heat up the milk/cream in a mug, stir the choc IB in as if it was hot choc mix. She really liked it that way. One of my boys likes it like that too (...without the cream) and still has it quite often with breakfast. I've gotten a lot of 'ewwwwwww' about that, lol... but who knows, maybe a desperate parent will try it someday and their kid will love it. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

Luckily my daughter will drink them, sometimes takes a while to get one down, but she will do it...but mostly just chocolate ones, she says they taste way better. With the vanilla we add chocolate ice cream or choc sauce. There are also recipes for adding the vanilla powder to real food...mac n cheese...etc. I have only tried adding a packet to mashed potatoes...and she really likes this, add butter and salt to them. Make a good sized batch to use with meals for a couple days. So she doesn't get the powder down in one serving, but it is extra calories for her with her meal.

Good luck!
