My daughter loves them, but she isn't gaining weight by drinking them. Since she got out of the hospital on 1/25/10, she has only put on about a pound and she drinks one every afternoon around 4 when she gets home from school.

Robin~ how many enzymes do you give her w/ the shakes? Emily began having greasy stools the next day when she started Scandishakes; she needs as many enzymes with them as she takes with a full meal (due to all the fat in them) ...once she started that things got better. (The shakes still are counterproductive for weight gain since it affects what she eats afterwards, but at least not because of losing it all the next day through her stools.)

Harriet,

She get 5 creon 12's with her shakes, just like she does any other meal or snack. We don't eat dinner until 7pm because her home health nurse is here until that time. We don't want to eat in front of her, and she has her dinner waiting for her when she gets home. Bek usually eats an ok dinner, but she was doing that before she started on the shakes.

She's not gaining weight, but it's re-proportioning itself. She is finally getting a bit of a butt! lol!

I saw that a lot of people are complaining about the thickness of scandishakes, I too hated how thick they were so I decided to try to thin it out. I figured out if you blend 8 oz of whole milk, 1 package scandi and then about 3-4 ice cubes it makes it SO much better!! For the chocolate ones I sometimes add an extra tablespoon of regular chocolate syrup to mask the scandichocolate flavor. I find that blending scandi &milk in the blender vs. just mixing it in a glass also makes it much more manageable to drink. But the ice cube trick definitely takes the cake. =)
