I am so sorry Andrew has to go back in. Hope he is feeling better soon!

Garran always got put under for picc's but he had his central line placed in Oct of '06 so he hasnt had to have a picc since then. He really likes the Port a Cath because it is just one stick and it is done. And it is under the skin so when it isnt accessed he can do just about anything.

Please let us know how things go. praying for a quick stay and peace and strength for you all while you are there.

My brother would get some valium for his PICC placements for a long time because he has such a terrible fear of needles. Full sedation is not recomended for CFers if it can be avoided because it is so hard on the lungs. I had an aweful time when I had my appendix out. I tried to get them to do it with a spinal but they wouldn't go for it. And just like I said, my O2 level dropped very low.

Some doctors and nurses will try to downplay the need for a sedative. PLEASE don't let them intimidate you or try to shame you out of your decision.

It seems to me that they resisted mainly because it took more time and was more work for them.

There are so few things we can control or do for our children to help them with CF and the pain and fear that comes with it.

But this is one sure thing we can do to prevent both. YEAHHH!!!
