My son is having some mouth pain - he says it feels like a sore throat on the roof of his mouth. I cannot see a sore like he cut it with a chip or anything, rinsing with hydrogen peroxide and using baking soda do not seem to help. I'm not sure what the problem is, but it did start the next day after starting the Advair. The doctor said he really doubts that it is the Advair but to go ahead and stop it for a few days to see if his mouth will heal up.

THis IS from advair, I have gotten this a few times. It is necessary to rinse after the inhaler or I juust drink alot so if your son has trouble swishing make sure he drinks but so it touches roof of his mouth. It will go away even if you keep taking it every day. It is like a little erosion of the skin on the roof of your mouth and your doctor should KNOW its a possibility--mine didnt warn me either but pharmacist was very familiar with the symptom.

I too did not know there was one other than the disk and will be asking at my next appt--thanks!

Yes, he is rinsing and swishing really well -- more so than I thought necessary so I thought he was going a really good job of it. Maybe I should have him brush his teeth & tongue in addition to the swish and rinse. I have looked for any signs of thrush but do not see anything.

Thanks for the info Nicole, that's really good to know that this has happened to others (well, that doesn't sound quit right, but you know what I mean). I will call the pharmacy and talk to them about it. Also good to know that you felt it went away even if you continued to take the medication.

Also a big thanks to Mockingbird for letting us all know there is an inhaler available -- maybe switching to that would help. I know he said the first time he used it he could feel the powder landing on his tung so I told him to suck in harder so it would get farther back.
