Just needing more reassurance and insight!! As many have noted, my 5 week old has CF (ddf508) and also has severe pancreatic insufficiency. Her enzymes are working wonderfully as she's gained almost two pounds since 7/3! The doctor said she'll most likely be diabetic by her late teens...who else has a child with severe pancreatic insufficiency? How old are they? How are they doing? If you're the person affected, how old are you and do you have CFRD? Thanks, everyone.</end quote></div>
I was dependent on enzymes my entire life. I take Creon 20 right now, and I enzyme per every 5 grams of fat in a meal. I was diagnosed with diabetes in my teens, but I'm curious, unless the doctor is Ms. Cleo, how does he know your child will get CFRD? I was unaware that diabetes is directly linked to requiring enzymes. I think that's good in a way, kind of giving you a "heads-up" that your daughter might develop diabetes so you can insure she does all the right things during her life so she doesn't get it.
