So....here's the lastest. We talked to another slew of docs today. They brought in the liver transplants docs because if something were to go wrong with the procedure, those surgeons would be the ones that would have to come in to save the day, so they wanted to get them involved at the initial decision-making stage.
The conclusion is to wait a bit longer to see if the pain goes away on its own, before doing anything. Both the partial splenic embolization and a full splenetomy are risky, so they just want to be conservative.
So...the waiting continues. The pain has felt a bit better for him, but they also have him really drugged up (50 mg of demerol q 3 hour), so I don't know.
