SIBLING TESTING?

I'm kind of confused.

If you want genetic testing, why don't you call up the doc and say "I'd like to make an appointment for genetic testing." Then go do it.

If he says no or hesitates, go to another doc. Just don't stop until you get it done. No big deal. It's not up to the doctor....it's up to you. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I enjoy your point of view sometimes "No Excuses"

It's not that I have given up.....NOT HARDLY. I will get the genetic test one way or another on my boys. I was just wondering if I was the only one hitting my head on the wall. I spent enough time doing that with getting wade diagnosed....know what I'm saying. And at first when he was......they were all gung-ho gonna test the other kids......well, then they tell me they will start with sweat tests and go from there. think it's a waste myself.

But yeah, I will get it FOR SURE. Thought maybe there might be a trick or two to make it happen easier.

THANKS Y'ALL!!!!

After Maeve's diagnosis, we wanted my stepchildren tested also. However, the only test they would do was the sweat test, stating that insurance would not pay for anything more until they were older. By older, I assume ready to reproduce? So that's as far as we got with that. The sweat tests came back negative, and that's where we stand "until they are older"

After we found out through prenatal testing that Abby was going to have CF, our clinic automatically decided to test our 3 year old (who was almost 2 then). We were told by the clinic that my husband's daughter should be tested at some point, but that the chances of her having CF were slim to none. We found out later that her mother was tested to see if she was a carrier when she was pregnant again and wasn't a carrier for a known mutations. So we decided not to press for it. Hope that you are able to figure out what you need to do to have your other children tested. I believe that getting step-children tested is much different than getting 100% biological children tested (as far as the red-tape with clinics).
