Thank you so much to everyone who replied. Drs over the years have been saying that at some point I would have to have the sinuses cleaned out and polyps removed. However the polyps havent grown or shrunk in size since I was around 19. But now its getting to the point where I am basically annoyed with not smelling anything and constantly being stuffed up. Fortunately I have not had to have any non-elective surgeries, and the one surgery I did have went off without a hitch. No probls with the anesthesia that is. So what can it hurt right? It can only help. All that gross gunk collecting over years of sinus infections and allergy issues cant be good. Spring cleaning for the head!! lol I dont know if I want to smell my own farts though.... from what Im told they are not too pleasing! lol

Please be careful with sinus surgery. It can backfire & cause more harm then good. How extensive is the surgery? Will they clean out all 4 sets of sinuses or just the checks? The checks are easy compaired to the others. I have had at least 10 major sinus surgeries on all 4 sets of sinuses & probably 40-50 procedures that most people would call surgeries. I would have died if I hadn't had 3 of the surgeries because the infection was pushing to my brain. I would have had a lot more surgeries, but I stopped letting the ENT's do them. They would always promise me how "great" I'd feel afterwards, but it would only last a few weeks. My last surgery had "complications" so now I have a large painful bump on my forehead that grows and shrinks with infection. It's hard to discribe. Because of the "complications" it is very dangerous to do anymore surgeries, which is fine with me. I won't have another surgery unless the sinuses try to kill me again, no matter how painful & uncomfortable they get. I have been disabled most of my life because of my sinuses. I go to a pain specialist now for my severe headaches. The doctors were always concerned about anesthesia. When I was young my lungs didn't have problems with it, but now that I'm old and my lungs are worse it does. It's hard to believe, but I can still smell most of the time. Maybe surgery is what's best for you & it will work great!I just wanted to say sinus surgery can have bad complications!
