Strategies to combat colds

For DS I get him to do sinus rinses, push fluids -- usually juice with lots of vitamin c, try to get him to bed a little earlier.

For me -- I drink green tea, sinus rinses, use handsanitizer or wash hands frequently and I wipe down my phone, desk, surfaces at work, door knobs...

I've always gargled with salt-water or with a gargle medicine they have in Japan that is supposed to help with killing germs.
I'd also gargle with lipton tea..I heard that actually helps battle a cold..
But also, I increase the vitamin C and I think it was zinc to be found as a source to fight off colds...it was either zinc or some other mineral that did that...
Oh, yea, like what Michele mentioned..spicy foods gets the sinuses to sweat and that'll help expel a lot of germs...

When I said that, I was agreeing with someone else who brought it up first. Melissa's remarks reminded me of it. It's something I do at work as an emergency measure. If I have been exposed to something and I'm clearly getting ill from it, I run to the vending machines and get two bags of Hot Fries and eat them both in short order. It helps and lets me get through the rest of the work day so it's not some huge flippin' crisis by the time I get home, where I have more tools for coping and taking care of myself. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

EDIT:
The Hot Fries do tend to upset my stomach, especially two bags like that. But for me, it beats the heck out of getting really sick. I just also treat my tummy-ache and heartburn when I get home.
