Hey all,

They got the results and they were negitive, but he dosn't belive it. I don't know Dave real well but when Lily was in the hospital my wife had to quit work and I misted alot of work , so the guys at work raised some money for us. Dave was realy nice and gave more than he should have , so I want to answer as many question as I can for him.

Well back to the questions. His daughter is 4 years old, wieghs 31lbs, and is 37in tall. He thinks that is to small and something is wrong. Lily is my first so I don't know how much a 4 year old should wiegh. I told him that all kids are different. He also said that she has asthma and she also had RSV when she was younger.

I am asking all these questions for him because he dosn't feel he is ready for the wed site. I had a real hard time with it at first.

Thank you all and please give any helpfull info, as I realy don't know what to tell him. Thanks again

Does he happen to know what the "negative" number is? I think sweat testing is a very poor way to rule out CF. My husband was recently tested for CF, his sweat test was 18 but his Dr. said that there had been confirmed cases that low so the Dr. ordered the Ambry test (BTW came back negative too).

So really if he is that concerned he should push for the blood test.

Oh, and one quick "test" he can do....if you feel comfortable telling him....check her poop in the toilet. If it normally floats then that indicates that there is undigested fat in the poop. That may indicate CF or some other digestive issues.

I don't know if it was a false negative, but I wanted to say that my NON-CF four year old boy is 32 pounds and 39 inches. It puts him above the 15th percentile. His daughter should be around there, adjusted for a girl. I'm not saying its fabulous, but its possible.

My non cf daughter was 28.8 lbs and 37 7/8" Tuesday at her appointment (she did have a bug last week and only ate fruit juice popcicles for about 3 days, so she was down a lb from where she usually weighs in at home). She turned 4 on the 5th of this month, and is in the 10th percentile for both height and weight.

She is having a sweat test tomorrow "just for the heck of it <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> ", so we will have it in her records should something up out later. Her doctor said that if I didn't have cf (and if our genetic test for my husband had been more recent than 13-15 years ago), there would be absolutely no reason to have her tested, so I hope that helps some (at least about the height and weight).
