Thanks for everyones input. This is all new to me, what is aspirating? He is on zantac for reflux, which I was told was unrelated to CF, but everything I've been reading suggests it is a CF thing. I have clinic next week and am wondering what I should be asking?</end quote></div>
you can go to dictionary.com to look up aspiration but it's basically breathing in liquid or solids (as opposed to air).
so in this case it would be gastric juice going into the lungs.
in terms of your clinic visit, i would:
1. smack your doctor for telling you that reflux isn't a CF issue.
2. consider another CF clinic if in fact your current CF clinic isn't aware that reflux is a CF issue. that would scare me to death if i were you and I'd wonder what else theyew re missing
3. as for a gastro referral. the gastro will know what to do in terms of testing, medications, etc. pulmo's aren't as expert as gastro's in this area - so don't let your pulmo tell you he/she knows what's best.
take care
