tanning

My hubby wants to spoil me and lift my spirits up. Currently, I'm on IVs and finish Wednesday. I can't wait. I'm breathing much better, but my stomach and toilet have had enough.

Anyway, he wants to pay for a couple months of tanning. He also just bought the cocktail and end tables that I have had my eyes on for months. I guess getting sick has some good points.

I would love to go tanning. I never tanned and really don't spend the time EVER to get my nails done, hair done, and so on. However, I do have a port-a-cath. Is that a problem? I know not to do anything while on antibiotics but is having a port a problem?

Is a port a cath the same thing as a mediport (under the skin, they just poke the needle into) or is it like a broviack (spelling) which has tubes coming out?

I've had a pasport (arm) and currently have a mediport (chest) and I can tan. I don't anymore just because I don't want to damage my skin any worse (I'm 31 and I'm aging!!!)

But yeah, as long as your iv's don't give you any sensitivity to sunlight you should be fine. I know I've seen other posts on here about germs/infections in tanning beds but I don't recall exactly what that was. Hopefully another person will post.

Well I do hope your tables and tanning cheer you up!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
Sounds like you have a great husband.

Thanks, Kelli

Yes, I have a mediport (under the skin, in the chest).

I told him to wait until I'm done with these IVs to pay for anything. I'm usually only on IVs once a year so I should be good for awhile now.

Edited to add: My port is 6-years-old so it's not new or anything.

I recommend a stand up tanner & not a bed. Most places require you sign a waver & guide you on where to start off depending on your skin type etc.
