So we should be tarring and feathering the republicans in congress now? I'm not even going to waste my time explaining why that is absurd.
Oh and of course the republicans are just out to get the majority of the country, thats why nearly half the country votes republican.
BTW who the heck suggested that a slave enjoys their work? and better yet, why is that remotely relevant to anything!? I'm sorry you don't like your job, but i assure you that it is nothing like slave labor.
So are you saying that in your perfect world employers would be responsible for the happiness of their employees? If you aren't happy at work again, i am sorry but you aren't there to be entertained, you are there to be productive and make money so you can eat.
I am not opposed to decent wages, but that as well as your paid vacation and sick days is between you and your employer, not because all the employees got together and decided to strong arm their boss into giving it to them. As for the affordable healthcare, i'm not sure what led you to believe i was against it considering we've yet to discuss it, but when one becomes defensive, they often try to change the subject or deflect attention to something/someone else. I am not against affordable healthcare i am in fact very much in favor of finding a way to lower the uncontrolled costs of medical care, what i am against is socialism and that i know is where you are headed with this discussion

<b>The UAW's money-squandering corruptocracy</b>
<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://michellemalkin.com/

</a>
<i>...In May and November 2007, the UAW forked over nearly $53,000 for union staff meetings at the Thousand Hills Golf Resort in Branson, Missouri. In September 2007, the UAW dropped another $5,000 at the Lakes of Taylor Golf Club in Taylor, Michigan and another $9,000 at the Thunderbird Hills Golf Club in Huron, Ohio. Another bill for $5,772 showed up for the Branson, Missouri golf resort. On Oct. 26, 2007, the union spent $5,000 on another "golf outing" in Detroit. In May and June 2007, UAW bosses spent nearly $11,000 on a golf tournament and related expenses at the Hawthorne Hill Country Club in Lima, Ohio. And in April 2007, the UAW spent $12,000 for a charity golf sponsorship in Dearborn. In August 2007, the UAW paid nearly $10,000 to its for-profit Black Lake golf course operator, UBG, for something itemized as "Golf 2007 Summer School." UBG had nearly $4.4 million worth of outstanding loans from the union. Another for-profit entity that runs the education center, UBE, had nearly $20 million in outstanding loans from the union.

Perhaps, the union bosses might argue, they need all this fresh air and exercise to clear their heads in order to make wise financial decisions on behalf of their workers. If only. UAW management has proven to be a money-squandering corruptocracy with faux blue-collar trim. Former UAW head Yokich, who built the Black Lake black hole is also responsible for bidding $9.75 million of workers' funds in a botched bid to purchase the gated La Mancha Resort Village in Palm Springs. The 100-room walled resort with spas, poolside massages, and a "croquet lawn lit for night use" was on the verge of bankruptcy with $5.2 million in debt. Despite outrage from rank-and-file union members who thought one gold-plated golf resort was quite enough, leaders defended the La Mancha bid because, as union spokesman Paul Krell put it, "'You can never tell if you are going to become snowbound." Always putting the workers first!</i>

<i>Local Detroit TV station WDIV recently caught local UAW bosses Ron Seroka and Jim Modzelewski - both of whom make six-figure salaries - on tape squandering thousands of hours of overtime on such important labor security matters as on-the-clock beer runs and bowling tournaments.

At least the groveling Big 3 CEOs gave up their corporate jets. Where's the public flogging for the greed-infested UAW fatcats reaching into our pockets to keep them afloat?

The article goes on "detailing how the union has avoided taxes on its tony resort."

<b>AND HERE'S THE BEST PART:</b>
Postscript II. Didn't have room in the piece to get into the notorious nepotism/extortion case involving UAW Local 594. <b>Here's the 2007 DOJ press release announcing the sentencing of two union thugs found guilty in the scandal...</b>

Rank-and-file workers furthered charged that Local 594 bosses embezzled more than $480,000 to settle a sexual harassment suit against ex-president Donny G. Douglas and to pay legal bills.

What does the UAW stand for? Unending Abuse and Waste</i>

Hate to tell you I told yu so, but...

I just had to say this on unions.....I needed the gas turned on in one of the buildings I manage. Gas company guy shows up (union mind you) turns on the meter but can't fire off the heating unit 14 feet in the air because union rules state there needs to be two. One to hold the ladder and the other to hit the switch. Iam always amazed how they come in pairs and sometimes you get to see 4 of them, one working while the other 3 watch. Oh and the best thing is they won't work past a certain hour and weekends. I will take my none union guys any dayof the year. I could go on and on.

Why an employer is not directly responsible for the happiness of its employees, it is in their best interests to provide a safe, neat, upbeat place to work. You are more motivated to perform well if the environment in which you dwell has higher morale. If these anti-worker Republithug fat cats had to spend even one day doing the work that a maintenance man, a waitress, a construction worker, a sales clerk, etc, etc, etc. do year after year, day after day like automated robots they would fold like a deck of cards during a hurricane. I want to see them outside when its 20 degrees changing a car battery, I want to see them up on a roof in 100 degree heat putting on the roof that keeps a home dry and a family safe. I want to see them 9 months pregnant with their feet swollen waiting on customers who eat an expensive full course meal and leave a mere penny as a tip, I want to see them flipping burgers and waiting on screaming customers all day, I wish my market manager would get out of his company paid car and get his hands dirty and change even 1 tire, but no these fat cats benefit off of their employees hard work, and these same people say no and renounce a living wage to those who do what they could not do or refuse to. They seem to think that sitting in their comfortable office working on their computer in their Armani suits in an air conditioned or heated office makes them better then the hardworking Americans who have made their comfortable life possible. They will never understand how shameful their viewpoint is to those of us who can see through their crude disguise. By the American worker's sweat off their brow they have built and made this country great, and I am ashamed that so many seem to think that they don't deserve a living wage and good treatment.

Thank goodness President-elect Obama plans to sign the workers free choice act. <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://blog.aflcio.org/2008/12/11/obama-reaffirms-support-of-freedom-to-form-unions/
">http://blog.aflcio.org/2008/12...to-form-unions/
</a>

Terri, you want to bring up how Democrats have a hand in slavery, have you been living under a rock these past 8 years? Bush and the Repubs have steamrolled and reversed all progress and have desperately tried to turn back all remnants of the Clinton White House. Now slavery thankfully is a thing of the past, but to say the Dems are evil because of actions 100s of years ago is folly, I got 2 D.U.I.s a decade ago, and by your logic that makes me bad now. Things change.

It boggles my mind how people DON"T forsee a union conversation headed toward socialism, as unions are one of the last socialistic remnants of this democratic society.

I never realized that so many are opposed to worker's rights. I guess if I were in upper management positions, or owned my own business, I might be too, so I cannot blame you. But I suppose no matter how many facts any of us post, none of us will ever be able to step out of our comfortable shoes to see the other's view. With that being said I gracefully bow out of this conversation before things get to far out of hand. C-ya.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
