Hi,

I don´t know, what a vet is, but I would tell everyone with cf to look for a job in an office, where you don´t have to "workout your body". Dream or no dream, it is quite shure that you cannot do a job for very long, where your body has to work hard, where you do always have to stand or move much.
So as normally one needs the money from working, its much better to take a job in an office, which you will probably be able to "stay on" much longer.
My motto has been: "I´m working to be able to live" not "I live for my work".
Thats why I was able to work fulltime for over 20 years despite cf, earn good money and could live a good life with that (shopping, eating, travelling) which was my dream that turned true.

I don´t want to offend anyone, but cf gives us some negative things, but we can make it better when taking the right choice! You can´t be a pilot, when you are blind, so...
When I read the story of Jennifershope, who had her dream job but had to quit it now, I´m sorry for her, but I do also think this job was the wrong choice from the beginning...so much work for a dream and how fast its over...

Hi Sheana
I totally understand your frustrations. Right now, it may help to focus on feeling better after your hospitalization. I know you probably feel like crud right now, but in a few weeks you are going to feel awesome!

It is hard to plan for the future when your future health is so unknown. For me, I figured that I best plan as if I am going to be healthy, and if something happens, I will deal with it when it comes up. It took me a long time to finish college (10yrs to get a bachelors) which I do not regret one minute of, and now I have an awesome career. Yes I may have to go on disability in the future, but at least I am grabbing life by the horns right as much as I can. Learning balance is the hardest part, but I have found an awesome boss who understands that "the rest of my life is challenging enough" that he doesn't give me a hard time if I have to miss work or if my performance slips if I feel like crap. He just asks I do my best. And that is what I suggest you do. Do your best. Don't let CF take control of you, you take control of it as much as you can.

I'm also sending you a pm about your diabetes. Sorry I haven't gotten to the Frequencer review yet, I have it half typed out, just need to finish it.
Take care sweetie!

By the way, I think limiting your dreams because of CF is phooey. Even if you can only live your dream for a short time is totally worth it. You just have to play with the cards you are dealt AT THAT TIME, another round of cards is coming in the future and who knows if they will be better or worse than right now. Don't assume you are going to be sick in the future. There is no way to tell your future. You may get really sick in a year, or you may get really sick in 20 years, so live your dreams to their fullest while you can!
