Sorry if I offended you, but I do feel that it's important for people to know that the blow-by method is very inadequate in terms of getting the medication into your little one's lungs. If you can't use the mouthpiece then a mask is probably your best bet.

With tobi and pulmozyme it's important to get those meds deep into the lungs and with blowby you're wasting the medication and thousands of dollars.</end quote>

I was not offended by your post. You simply stated that blow-by was not a good idea and was wasting the meds. I can handle someone letting me know I am doing it wrong and the reasons why or advice...no problem there, that's how we learn to do thing more efficiently for our children.
I was just offended by the way the other lady seemed to criticize me, while I am trying my hardest to take care of my 2 girls. I just didn't appreciate being criticized. I can take being told what I am doing is not right, and the right way to do it...just don't want to be put down for not doing something right that I was unaware was a problem to begin with.
I love my girls and would NEVER do something to hurt them. She made it sound like I was purposely doing it wrong.

Sometimes I just don't feel welcomed on this site as I should and as it seems some people are more compared to others. Maybe I am just overreacting, just seems how it has been.

We know you are trying the best you can to give your girls the best care possible. Shame on the RT for not telling you EXACTLY what you need to be doing when you started nebulizer treatments; it's not instinct to just 'know' this stuff. The sheer amount of information we have to take in at the time of dx is overwhelming and and it continues to be a learning process in all the years to come. Good teaching on their part is essential!

Alexa just started using Pulmozyme. Until we have our next clinic apt., do you think using the thing that swimmers use to close their noses would work to cause her to breathe through her mouth? I know it sounds like torture but don't we want our children to get most of the medicine?

I brought home the nose thing from clinic yesterday for Emily and the novelty factor is working so far. She too started Pulmazyne. (Gave her red eyes/cheeks- is this normal? did not get this with albuteral or pulmacort nebs... and using the mouthpiece not much gets in her face vs. a mask.) I think any of the nose stopper things are worth a try; they think it's torture when WE do it after all.
