ok so I'm back in the hospital and got here yesterday which was 08-08. I'm started on a new round of IV antibiotics for 14 days and treatments. Today the RT comes in and starts asking me if I'm sure that I have CF because I don't look like it. So annoyed I tell him yes blah blah blah and he proceeds to say threw my whole treatment r u sure, most CF patients r way thinner than u, u have to much meat on your bones, no u can't have CF and goes on and on. I'm at a good weight (120) but am I missing something? Do people think if u have CF it's stamped on your forhead? Like I should be walking around wearing a sign that says CF patient. UGH WHATEVER. Why r some people so stupid?

Yes, alas, stupid people are far too abundant in our world, and it seems that an unseemly majority are healthcare workers.
A couple of weeks ago when my husband was in for 16 days and I was staying with him 24/7 on a cot near his bed, the nurse assistant walked in to empty the trash and she asked me if I had already 'caught' what my husband has.... since I ddin't have to wear a mask around him?!?!?!?!?! I didn't even know how to respond, I think I just stared at her. Whatever.

Hope you have better luck with the stupid people staying away during the rest of your stay!

I get that one all the time too! It is especially troubling when it comes from healthcare workers though. It really just seems like they should know better! Maybe next time we should reply "You're right, I don't really have CF, I just came in for a 2 week hospital stay for the fun of it!" What a jacka**!

Good luck with your hospital stay, and I hope you don't have to hear "are you sure you have CF?" one more time!!

I've had really terrible experiences with just about every CNA I've ever had while hospitalized. I really chalk it up to the fact that they are often times not told of the patient's diagnosis because they do not administer healthcare instead they change sheets, empty garbage cans, answer buzzers, bring in water and ask incredibly stupid questions.

So... that may explain part of that. I hope.
