I talked to clinic and I'm stopping the azithromycin for now to see if my hearing gets any better in the next few days. If it gets any worse then I'll also stop the inhaled amikacin. I'm schedule for a hearing test next week, the soonest available, and I'll also find out then about whether hearing aids would help me at all.

It's like what do you pick....the mac or your hearing. Not a fun choice to have to make, but if it were that black and white I guess I'd pick loosing my hearing over letting the mac go wild. I've already been on 3 of the 5 meds for 2+ years and the mac shows up still pretty strong. It's been under control, I've been maintaining lung function but the doctors think that if I stopped the treatment the mac would be right there in full force and wreak more havoc.

Thanks for everyone's input and thoughts!! I really appreciate it.

Grrrrrr... What a sucky decision to make. I hope it doesn't come to having to make it, and your hearing gets better after stopping the med... Keep us posted ~ <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0"> joni
