update on my dog Sam

I'm so sorry you had such a hard day. Believe me, I can say 100%, I do know how you feel. I am a dog lover and have lost special friends in the past.
What helped me was writing down EVERYTHING I could remember about my dog, good, bad, funny, etc. That really helped me heal.
Good luck to you.
And I did give my dogs tons of attention today (even before reading this). I know how much I love them and they know how much I love them. Sam was lucky to be loved by you.
I'm sending you a big hug. I know you are hurting and I wish I could help you.
I think dog's go to heaven so I'll think happy thoughts of Sam tonight, who is not in pain and can walk where ever he wants to.
You might be too emotional for this right now but there is a poem called "Rainbow Bridge" when you feel up to it, google it and read it. It is sweet!!
Good luck to you!

Here's a copy of the Rainbowbridge Poem

<img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q194/laytbug1/POEM_Gate-rainbowbridge.jpg">

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I am so sorry that you are going through this. I was also 21 when we had to put my dog to sleep and it hurt more than anything I had been through. I had never seen my dad cry before either and that upset me just as much because who was going to be the strong one for me?

I don't have any words of advice but to just try and keep yourself busy. I think if you could try and go to the party that would be good because the more you stay at home the harder it is. And you take as much time to be sad as you need, losing a pet is such a hard thing.

Please update so we all know how you are doing<img src="i/expressions/brokenheart.gif" border="0">

Hugs to you

I am sorry, I know how hard it is. What helped my husband and I was to clean up our house and get rid of all his stuff because it seemed whenever we saw something of his we would get sad so we swept and dusted really well, got rid of his leashes bowls etc or stored them away. We even took down his picture for just a bit until it wasnt so fresh then we got a nice frame that says "top dog" and we put a good picture of him in it. This is just what worked for us.

take care
