UPDATES ON ME

Well its official I am getting paroled on Friday. We hope to do PFTs tomorrow. They discontinued my TPN as of tonight since my liver enzymes are still haywire.

I dont know for sure about what meds I will go home on. I told them I will not be compliant with Meropenum since its every 8 hours & doesnt come in Eclipse Balls.

I was honest & said there is a lot to do for Christmas & I dont have the time or patience to be stuck to a poll.

I might possibly just go home on orals since I am on IV Cipro & Oral Bactrim right now. Nothing definite on that. I would also assume they want the PICC to stay in until my check up after the holidays even if I dont do IV meds.

In a way I want it out to get a good shower, but it took 3 tries to get the new one in so if I need something later I dont want to get stuck again.

I did lose a bit of weight, but I was starved for quite a bit with the dry run on Monday for the Bronch & then again on Tuesday so its not abnormal.

I feel good. Been getting exercise & naps in. Tonight I used the Elliptical machine in the exercise room instead of the bike in my room. I got a workout tonight, but I have to say IT FELT GOOD! **shhhh**

Thats it for now. We expect some heavy duty weather between now & Sunday so not sure what to expect for the commute home.

HUGS to all my peeps!

UPDATES ON ME

Hugs to you too Mel. I'm so glad you are on your way to HOME! Hope you get there before the snow.

Good luck with the PFTs.

FYI, when my kids were on imipenem for 6 months, we had to mix every dose (3x a day for both kids). We asked if we could get a portable pump. They told us no, the portable pumps are only for 24 hour meds. I asked if we could program them for each dose and they said "HMMMM" I guess so. SO we got the portable BAXTER pumps in the fanny packs. It was great. Thats what we took on vacation that summer. NO POLES FOR US!

It doesn't hurt to ask.

UPDATES ON ME

I don't know if you get the Kaiser commercials, the one with the little chubby kid, he talks about how he's "neglected his relationships" (showing him playing video games while his dog's looking depressed behind him), "started drinking" (showing him tipping a liter of soda)...At the end he says "..but things are lookin'up!"
I love the way he says that - anyway, that's what I think of when I think of you - things are lookin up!

I'm sorry your weekend sucked. And I know what you went through not eating while waiting for your procedure (they did the same thing to me - 3 days of no breakfast or lunch in hopes of getting a port placed) - sure doesn't help one gain any weight!

I am anxiously awaiting your return home with you - in your own bed, in your own bathroom, and especially with your own family (not hospital family) !!!

I think of you often and send my best wishes, thoughts and prayers your way May your Christmas be Merry and Bright!!!
