The Vest is not used in SA (at least I don't know of anyone who has one in SA yet, I think it's a cost thing), so to answer your question I don't have it so always travel without it, and just do my usual routine of nebbing and ensuring I cough up a lot. I always take my nebulizer. As long as you can get up the junk I don't think it matters how. Find a physiotherapist that can teach you "active cycle breathing" (shallow breaths, medium, deep, then huffing etc). My routine consists of bronchodilator neb, then Hypertonic Saline neb while I do the coughing/breathing. I also find doing 5mins with a skipping rope a great physio-substitute, it is easy and quick enough but intense enough to get your lungs working to loosen the gunk. Try it.

Get in touch with your local Vest rep. They can possibly arrange for the rep in the area you're going to be visiting to deliver one to wherever you're staying. I think they charge a rental fee.

I have to travel with oxygen, neb and vest. I usually put my vest and neb in a carry-on wheeled suitcase and wheel my oxygen as well. I always get a doctors note b/c I have more then one carry-on and they have no problems with it. Just alert security that you have medical equipment and they will pull you aside. Otherwise, you can check with Walgreens or home health care companies in the area to see if they can deliver it to where you are staying while you are there. Sometimes it's possible. Also, see about the new Percussor 5000 or the similar items out there now. They are very small and portable, but some insurances don't cover them yet. Also...if you have a doctors note, they don't always care about the weight of your luggage. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
