Was it hard to tell your friends that you have CF?

Sure, I'll tell you. Telling them for me was actually kind of a must, because, well here's what happened...
I was in the hospital last December, for the first time, not knowing what was wrong with me. And my friends came to visit. They were my two best friends. It was Christmas Eve, and my doctors came in and told me I had cf, since they just got the sweat test results. I was so upset, just crying and in denial and everything. And As this dr is trying to explain everything about cf to me, my friends are in the waiting room, wanting to see me and wanting answers. When he fianlly left, my friends came in and they saw how upset I was, and I just said that CF was what was wrong with me. And, in a nutshell, I told them what that was even though I myself had only found out 5 minutes ago.

Then they told my other friends, so it wasn't really too bad.
You should just tell your friends, so that they know why you take pills and stuff. I know how hard it is, because I've told other people before. It's just really awkward when they have no idea what it is, and they say "is it bad?"
But once they know, if they really are your friends, they'll be really supportive, trust me. ANd it's not like you have to announce it to the whole school. Really, only my friends know, and they people they have told. I am sure, that any decent kid would not make fun or start rumors, especially when they know what cf is. Maybe you should just tell them really casually, ya know? Don't just sit them down and say, "I have to tell you guys something serious." Maybe just let them see you takng pills and when they ask why, just say "Oh, I have cystic fibrosis. I take them when I eat, it's not a big deal." Just don't make it seem like a huge thing, even if it is sometimes. Hope I helped<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

i have just always been very open and honest about it even though i was healthy and show little to no sings of cf except excessive coughing and lots of potty breaks.. how ever i do have a hard time staying in intimate relationships because im afraid to fart around them because they are so smelly or when i poop people think the sewage has backed up! my digestive system is pretty bad. or when i hack up a big mucus wad that's embarrassing but i have notice good friends stick around and don't mind at all.

Hey my name is Anna and i told my friends like right off the bat! I mean they asked alot of questions but i think its still easyer to tell them them rather the, finding out by coming over and seeing your nebulizer machine and you toob feeding machine (if you have 1) because its not like you can hide it!

In 5th grade i got a Make-A-Wish and they came to my school and i didnt know they was going to and after it was over everyone was mad because they thought i won that trip! but i had to slowly explain that i didnt win that trip i got it because of my CF and some of them then still didnt under stand! but my whole school knows i have CF! Not a big deal.. there is also one other person in my school with CF his name is Brett lol he is really nice and he goes out with my friend! The whole school knows about him too!

So its not a big deal if u wanna tell your friends just do it a true friend would understand!

(oh one more thing if they cared about you a really whole lot they would text you everyday you were in the hospital mine do:) )
