How is your child's weight?
Are you struggling to get them to gain?
Does your clinic watch their weight closely?
Do you have any tricks for adding in extra calories?

Emma is doing well. She is 15 pounds 10 ounces.

She is eating baby food and formula.
Our clinic watches her weight very closely. They have me add extra formula powder to her bottle to add extra calories. Also, now that she is eating meat baby food they told me to add some butter to it.

At this point, she will eat anything I giver her. She is not picky. Hopefully she stays that way as she grows up!

Now that they have his insulin and blood sugars in good check, he is finally in the 50th percentile. We use to struggle a lot, probably shouldn't say use to, we often still do, we are just so happy to be in the 50th percentile that we don't feel like we are struggling as much.

I use to make my own baby food so that I could add butter to it for him, used heavy cream instead of milk in his mashed potatoes and added cheese as well, can mash almost any vegetable and add butter and or cream to boost calories. My friends daughter uses 1/2 and 1/2 on her cereal and mixes whole milk with cream to a 50/50 ratio for drinking and other stuff. Put cheese on everything you can helps too.

maggie's weight is good, now, has been for a while. Seems like when she was a baby we watched her weight VERY closely. It was stressful. Course she did have 2 abdominal surgerys before the age of 6 months, so each surgery we'ld lose weight and have to gain it back. She's a good eater, which helps. Loves all things protein and meat, fish, beef jerky, turkey. SHe's funny. What kid would rather have a bag of beef jerky than a cookie! We like to keep her on the heavier side(really she looks just right to me) cause when she gets sick, she can drop weight quickly.

This has always been a BIG issue with my son. We right now are keeping a close eye on his weight again. We have nurses come in and weight him 3 times a week and report back to the doctor that is 2 hours from us. He has a g-tube, but still struggles. Right now he is at 50 pounds, which when he got his tube on March 1, 2007 he was at 39 pounds, but they still want more weight on him. He is about 49 inches tall. He was back at 33% for weight and height 3 weeks ago, when he first got his tube he was at 13%.
