Weight and CF

So long as our son was not shrinking, we told the weight-nazis to go away. It's enough to be harassing them about all the medicines, etc. to also make food a battle. Eventually he ate.

Amen! I think we'll try this strategy for awhile because lately we are driving ourselves and our daughter crazy about this weight gaining thing.

We just got back from our latest clinic appointment last week. Taylor was between 50 and 75% for her weight and Isabella was off the chart (over 100%)! She is our little chunky monkey! The dietician said that if she didn't have CF she would be concerned about her being 'overweight', but with the CF she has no worries. Isabella just started walking, so I am sure her weight will come down over the next few months.

I'm with you all: the Food Mavens are weight nazis (hate to use that word, but...). Every CF mom I know is a nervous wreck before and after clinic as the dieticians, or whatever they're properly called, "tsk, tsk" and balefully grumble right in front of the poor kid, who is sick of being followed around with spoons full of high-fat food all the freaking time!!! In the end for the team, numbers must look good; in the end for us, higher BMI is a good thing; in the end, the kid does not need a psychological complex about something so basic as nourishment. Enough already, please!
