We also used higher calorie formula and kept him on formula until he was 18 months old because we struggled with his weight. Always within the 50th percentile, but we worked hard. Added cream to his yogurt and formula -- once in awhile he got chocolate syrup in his formula

Butter to his baby oatmeal with pears, baby food meats, baby mac & cheese. As he got older we added olive oil to his entrees -- spagettios, pasta, casserole, soup....

Now that he's older he gets carnation instant breakfast with whole milk and an ounce of cream with his breakfast and supper.

Weight has been THE issue around here and its getting really O-L-D!! Alyssa did well while she was one exclusive breast milk (until about 6 or 7 months) and once we introduced food we've had problems. She never ate baby food at all, we eventually just went to adult foods like soup (mixing in heavy cream), mashed potatoes with lots of butter and cream, and an all natural/organic type of cheeto. I could re-write out dietician's planner, I'm so well versed in the ways to add calories. There was a time when we were going to the clinice twice a month for weight checks -- and even went on abx to see if the staph she was culturing was causing her issues we didn't know about.

My daughter still hovers around the 5% mark for BMI and it is a never ending disappointment to see "nutritional failure" when I'm at clinic. But I've come to a place (as have the doctors) that for now she is holding her own. The weight is not making her more susceptible to illness right now and I have two non-CF kids who also are quite thin. Now if I could just find that gene they all got and turn it on for ME, we'd all be good!!! The CF diet has not been kind to MY waistline!!!

I think Austin is at a good weight. He is 57 lbs at 7 years old. Our clinic does keep an eye on the weight though. Especially whenever he is in for tune-ups. They push hard on the calories. To maintain his weight.

Cassidie's clinic watches her weight closely. She is in and has been hovering in the 25-35% for as long as I can remember. Her weight at last checkup was 29 1/2lbs and she is 3 yrs old. I think she was up a lb from the last visit so that made the doctors happy and mom too. We have always tried adding extra calories to just about everything she eats even when she was on formula she had a special diet. Thankfully now she loves her grilled cheese and milk alot!
