What do you do?

Hello,
I am sure you all know this about each other already, but because I am new I was wondering if you'd mind telling me what you do for a living? Also, do you find yourself limited in what you can do for work because of CF? That may sound like an obvious (dumb) question, but I'm asking it anyway.

Valerie, There are many new users, myself included, who are just getting to know the peoples usernames/names, so not everyone knows everyone. And, wanting to know what people do is not a dumb question.

I work as an Oracle Database Administrator, 40+ hours/week and on call (so they can call me at anytime.) It's not physical, so I don't have any issues aournd CF that hinder me in my job, and the job environment is pretty good. If I get sick, which isn't too often, I can work from home. I'd like to work from home all the time, but right now it's not permitted.

Through the years I've held a few different jobs, started out flipping burgers at McD's. Worked in a factory (that was dumb), worked as a milk products delivery person climbing in and out of a regfrigerated truck (which was dumber). Worked in housekeeping/maintenance in college, and then into computer repair and electrionics - then software.

How about you, are you currently working?

Thanks for responding sakasuka and dbtoo. I guess the reason I thought it was sort of a dumb question is that I feel like I am unable to do something I would really like to do because of CF, which is to become a chef. Cooking for a restaurant is too grueling, not to mention the fact that nobody likes to have their food coughed on.

Right now I am in grad school getting an MFA in creative writing. I guess I am considering teaching creative writing when I graduate or getting a job in publishing somewhere. Actually, I think I might write a cookbook someday since I can't do the actual cooking thing. It would be a good way to blend both of my interests!

By the way, dbtoo, it's awesome that you are turning 50 next year! So many people are advancing well beyond the 'average life expectancy.' It makes me hopeful.
