Who do you want as your next US president?

I'm leaning toward Obama/Edwards. I think (someone said this before) theat they would be good running mates. Edwards being the VP. I am all for a woman president, but I don't think Hillary is the right one. 20+ Yeas of Bush and Clinton;s. I think not. I personally don't like any of the republicans (Exp. Romney- gah that would be a disaster if he was the president.), majorty of the reason being I don't think anything will changed with them.

But here is what I am looking for:

Healthcare: somthing that will help us! I don't think forcing people to have health care is the answer, people don't have it because they don't want it, they can't afford it. I would like to see some sort of universal health care, where it really covers people who have some sort of genitic cronic disease. Something that they cannot help.

War: I would like us to get out of there, but It needs to be in the safest way possible. I personally don't think we should have been there in the first place. But thats neither here nor there. But I think the best thing would be to get out asap. By doing so I think it will help the moral of the US.

Gay Rights: My personal feels are; a person should be able to marry whom ever they want, male or female. There is too much of the curch in this area of our gov't. Church and State are seperate. I just picture myself; if I found true my true love and was told I couldn't marry the person I love I would be p*ssed to say the least. It's simply not fare.

Abortion: I personally would never get an abortion, unless I was raped, or I was going to die because if it. But I don't think it is fare nor is it the gov't or anyone elses business what a person does with there own body. However I do belive that if a person was to get an abortion then is should be done prior to the second trimester, no late term abortions.

Stem Cell Research: I'm all for it. enough said.

Global Warming: Something needs to be done soon. I honestly would vote for Al Gore if he would run. But he's not. Anyways, I think that we need to set standards for the car manufactures, and not on 40 year or 20, sooner. I hate thinking about this but, Polar Bears in the Artic are dying because they cannot get to 'land' (Ice) in time and they drowned. That to me is gut renching.

Taxes: I would not want to see a tax increase, taxes in Maine are one of the highest in the country so add more wont help much. Nor will it help the economy. What should be done is change the tax brackes so they are the same for everone. If i get taxed 10% of my wages then so should people who make more and less then I do. Regardless if a person makes 10 thousand a year of 10 billion. It does not seem right that the middle class get a heaver tax burden

A few words about Obama and Edwards;

Obama- I really like him as a person. He seems genuine. Out of all the canidates he appears to be the most trustworth and would be best suited for the Job. Some say he lacks in experience, that may not be the worst thing. Look at Bush, he had experience; and he f*ck a lot of things up.

Edwards- I really like that he has not excepted any money from special interest groups or else wise. That in it's self should earn him alot of respect. I doubt that he will go all the way for the demorcatic nomination. But I think he and Obame would really do well together. The two of them will bring much needed changed to this country.

thats my 2 cents.

I BELIEVE:
- Pro-Choice
-The health care system NEEDS reform, but universal health care is not the answer
-Stem cell research is necessary, potential benefits could save millions of lives!

I am AGAINST:
- Amnesty plan for illegal aliens
- Income redistribution
- Progressive taxation

I consider myself a moderate. I guess I would be considered Fiscally Conservative and Liberal on social stances.

I would love to see Giulliani as president.

I am an Edwards fan! I am pro-life, meaning you can't live if you don't have healthcare and you can't pay for it. It amazes me that republicans scream pro-life then don't give a damn if you die when you get here. I really am pro-life in the sense that I am not pro-choice but I don't like the fact that republicans have managed to attach that to their campaign for YEARS AND YEARS and get every sucker on board while neglecting even that issue and causing the abortion rate to sky-rocket because soooooo many families are in poverty and CAN NOT get healthcare to take care of a newborn. Wake up all you pro-lifers! There are thousands and thousands of people dieing every day without healthcare or basic needs. The republicans will NEVER overturn Roe v. Wade though I wish they would, they want you to believe it but it would be political suicide for them. Approach the pro-life issue from a different perspective and rally for compassionate care and solutions to the poverty in this country. Abortion rates during the Bush Administration far surpassed the Clinton years!!
