Just wondering everyone's thoughts. I haven't posted much, but Max was diagnosed via newborn screening. At 3 months old his fecal elastasy results were 484 (anything over 201 is normal). His poop at this time was soft, would often float & sometimes had the feared orange ring (several times a day). We repeated the tests 4 months later with results of 31 & 30 and coinidentally, his poop was now well formed, sinking, no orange ring & looking "normal" on a regular basis (on average one bm per day). He also had blood work done which showed that his vitamin levels were all good and although he's around the 30% for height/weight, he continues to grow at a steady pace (my non cf daughter was always around the 30% as an infant). Based on the elastasy results, Max was started on Ultrase (1/2 capsule). He has been on them for about a month and his poop continued to look normal until about a week ago. He now has about 3 bm's per day, they are soft, float, are a pale yellow & REALLY smell (yeh, I know, poop usually smells, but these are really rotten).
Now ... this long windedness leads us to my question ... do you think that this would indicate that his enzymes need to be adjusted? It's certainly depressing to consider, because it would just further confirm that he has cf ... My plan is to call his clinic on Monday, but I didn't want to wait that long for some input.
