Hello, everyone.

OK, so even though I'm sick, I made an appt. with the local clinic and the soonest they will see me is over a month from now! ridiculous, but not an entire surprise.

I usually see the clnic in SLC, however we are now "butting" heads over whether I can go home on IVs versus having to stay in the hospital there (which is their "norm") I tell them I get much better results and feel soooo much better when I'm allowed to be active and do things at home, but they say that is "not how they do things". I have not gotten the results I got previously when I've been on home health every time I've been inpatient.... Not as good energy, sleep, and FEV1 results. I am trying to tell them this but they have mentioned maybe I wasn't as sick when I've been on home health. My records do prove I was as sick, if not sicker, when I've been on home health and have gotten better faster. Urgh.

I am curious what your clinic's view are on home health versus inpatient. My doc says most CF clinics push for patients to stay inpatient, but my prior clinics were all about sending people home.

Also, if you know of good clinics near Vegas (not IN Vegas) that would allow me to take my meds home and would maybe see my right away within a week or two, please let me know. I'm kind of at wit's end right now and need some guidance. At this point, I'd even fly back to San Antonio to do home health if it meant I wouldn't have to be inpatient.

This whole thing has me super stressed out. I'd feel terrible leaving my current center cause I absolutely LOVE them, but this is a huge downfall and something I really don't want to budge on.

I'm surprised your clinic wouldn't give you the option to choose. Sounds like you presented a good case for doing home I.V.'s, plus it's beneficial for the insurance company, a win-win for everyone. My doctor lets me make the choice... unless I'm having trouble breathing, I go with the home I.V.'s and he's good with that.

By the way, I'm in northern CA, probably 2 or 3 hours from Vegas(?). Don't know if that would be another option for you. Good luck!

Yes, usually my clinics even suggested I stay home to avoid any germs in the hospital if I was well enough to stay home. So it is weird to me that I have to try so hard to get to stay home and its against their judgement.

Oh my, that doesn't make any sense. I'm sorry your clinic, well, seems kind of stupid. I've never had that problem with my doc or clinic. In fact, home IVs are more the norm - I have to ask specially if I want to actually go into the hospital, and I only do that if I'm *very* sick or run down. My doc recognises that and just calls it rest and TLC time. But it makes so much more sense, both financially and germ-wise... to stay at home. And if you mentioned to your doc specifically that you want to do home IVs, that you do better on them, I don't see why he wouldn't let you do it. You are an adult, he should't be telling you how to care for yourself. ;p

Good luck, remember it's your body and you can simply tell him "Home IVs or nothing" and I'm sure he'd pick the former.
