So glad everything worked out and you're getting what you wanted. So nice to have peace of mind, right? Rest easy, feel better.

is conscious sedation same as the numbing medicine? i've never had to be sedated for a picc, just wondering why you had to.

i know one day i will probably have to be admitted into the hospital for cf, but i've had three piccs and the only time i've ever spent in the hospital was two nights when i had morgan. i think i would go insane if they told me i had to be admitted.

Hi, Haley...

I've had some really terrible experiences with PICC placements so they just "put me under". I get an IV and through that they put in versed and something else that pretty much knocks me out, but technically I'm still conscious. I'm sleeping through the whole ordeal and wake up to a nicely placed PICC. Its considered a surgery, so they make me go inpatient for it since you have to wake up from it and everything. Its pretty great compared to being awake through it like I used to be. I also have an anxiety and panic disorder and I would panic so badly when I'd get a PICC that the bed and my clothes would just be soaked even BEFORE they did anything! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0">
