Hey There

I've never had private insurance, but I did look into it once. I know that this may sound like common sense, but all I can say is that if you look for anything on the internet, please be careful and make sure that they are a trusted company.

One time I contacted this one company (I cannot remember the name of it now) and I requested information.. They kept calling me and emailing me, but when I asked them to send me a packet or a brochure in the mail, they said they didn't have anything to send. I told them that they didn't sound too legit if that were the case, and I then forgot about it. They called me back a couple of months ago after over a year, and I told them to loose my number. It made me realize how shady some of these "companies" are.

Good luck!

that really sucks. This is what I expected but had hoped there would have been someone who broke through. How can they discriminate against us? Thought that was illegal these days? Another reason to "love" our government system!

Thnkas for your replys!!!

Well, the insurance companies are all BS. They only care about their profits (I assume). I would look into your state programs to see what they offer. We have a nice state program here in WI for cf'ers. It only covers cf related stuff, but it is free, and the co-pays and deductibles aren't too bad. The only downfall, the state coverage in itself won't cover home IV, you have to stay inpatient. I have private insurance too, so I don't need to worry. I keep the state insurance just to help with my prescription co-pays. There it is! Move to Wisconsin! lol

I worry about losing my job for this very reason. The fact that insurance companies can turn down people for pre-existing conditions ought to be criminal. Of course the politicians who allow this to happen get health coverage for the rest of their lives, so they aren't particularly worried.
